China unicom 3G experience

Been using unicom’s service for nearly a month now.

Pros: it is alot faster than edge/GPRS makes mobile internet usable. My connection doesn’t get dropped when checking email. I can finally experience what the iPhone can really offer (albeit no facebook and Twitter)

Cons: unicom’s reception is bad and not compareable to china mobile. Calls get dropped, no reception in a lot of places and problems switching towers. I had to give up the cmcc number I have been using for 4 years

Bottom line: It’s great when it works. Is it worth it? I think it is. At least it’s enabling me to be able to be writing this while waiting for lunch
